OBJECTIVE

Teachers will be given an overview of how to use the Civic Life Project in their classroom:

- Introduction to the Civic Life Project
- Identifying essential elements of a documentary
- Introduction to Storytelling
- Introduction to preparing and videotaping interviews
- Introduction to editing

9:00 - 9:30                   General Introduction
                                       Participants and CLP staff briefly introduce themselves
                                       Introduction to the plan/schedule for the workshop
                                       Questions/concerns

9:30 - 10:30                  Introduction to Documentary Filmmaking
                                      
Screen "Passion and Punishment"
                                       Use film transcript and identify various elements of a documentary
                                       Discussion/Comments

10:30 - 10:45                Break

10:45 - 12:00 PM       Introduction to Storytelling
                                      Break up into groups and do "step stones" exercise
                                      Report to full group/Share stories with group
                                      How to choose a story/topic

12:00 - 1:00                 Introduction to Shooting Interviews
                                     
Demonstrate/Practice basic set-up of formal interview

1:00 - 1:30                    Lunch
